Dance | Music
I work with community groups, of all ages through the medium of dance. I specialize in improvisation, contact improvisation, and choreography, but can also teach basic street dance, and contemporary styles. Participants do not need any experience in dance as my work is easily accessible. The emphasis of my work is placed on having fun, building confidence, keeping fit and team building. I am currently involved in a Children in Need project in Pembrokeshire. As part of Meerkat, I perform & give workshops in combined music and dance with dance practitioner/music & dance performer, Miranda Betts. We are passionate about music and dance, and love inspiring diverse groups with our own enthusiasm, providing fun, creative & accessible workshops – one minute you are the musician, the next the dancer. We also offer inspiring, adventurous performance – original music, & music & dance shows. We have worked with children with special needs/behavioural problems, women’s groups, in mental health drop in centres. Currently working on schools’ projects. We have given workshops & performed in UK, Russia and Germany.
I trained in Contemporary Dance at Chichester, West Sussex, where I gained a Cert. of Higher Education. I am also trained in the Martial Art, Goju Ryu karate, and have reached 1st Dan (black belt). My experience in karate and dance informs much of the dance work I do.
