Specialist Art Forms
Caroley Bergman lives in Llanwrtyd Wells. She studied stained glass in London. Not only does she design & make windows for churches and other public buildings, she is also an accomplished fused glass artist.
I worked for eight years in various London photographic studios, mainly in fashion & advertising before returning to college to study Mural Design at the Chelsea School of Art where I began to specialise in stained glass.
I moved to Wales in 1977 and a year later set up Yn y Wlâd Stained Glass. I work in all areas of stained glass, working with traditional methods of leading, copper foil, kiln fired painting and silver staining, acid etching and fused glass. I also work with local blacksmiths & carpenters to create screens & tables.
I am inspired by pretty much everything around me – colour, light & movement and I work in many styles, tailored to clients’ personal and architectural requirements. I also enjoy technical challenge and, having recently been awarded a grant from Chance to Create for a large fusing kiln, I am experimenting with new techniques including cast-glass.
