Intergen Dawns Project 2010-2012

Funded by The Arts Council Wales, Welsh Assembly Government & Carmarthenshire County Council, the ACGC Intergen-Dawns project was launched in 2010 and is now striding into year 3. Facilitated by two Scale 2 lead Dance Artists, the Arts Care Gofal Celf Intergen-Dawns Project is a Movement and Dance Project that explores issues around Age & Ageism with groups of young people and older adults.

Through facilitated discussions based on question and answers, Artists draw upon individual’s opinions, experiences or stories to create movement phrases and exercises that are personal to each group and often humorous. Workshops are suited for groups of people of all ages and abilities and are a fun way of dancing, moving and socialising. Each session has its very own interesting outcomes.

Groups currently involved in the ACGC Intergen-Dawns Project are:
• Dr Mz Youth Project
• The Carmarthenshire Communication Group – Stroke Association (TCCG-SA).
• Llanelli Cardiac Group
• Newcastle Emlyn Age Concern Group at Teifi Valley Day Centre

Intergen-Dawns Projects Include:
• (February – June 2011) A 17 week course of Intergen-Dawns workshops with a group of young people not necessarily attending other arts activities, held at Dr Mz Youth Project.
• (April – June 2011) A 7 week course of Intergen-Dawns workshops with The Carmarthenshire Communication Group – Stroke Association at the Bethal Christian Centre, Johnstown, Carmarthen.

ACGC Dance Artist & Intergen-Dance project Lead Cerys Rhiannon Dixie “This project has been such an enjoyable experience to date, I hope we can continue to use dance and movement to bring people together and have fun whilst learning”

Brenda a visitor to the NBGW “Wow – What a find, we’ve come down from Glasgow to see the gardens and we’re really lucky to have come on a day where this is happening, we’ve really enjoyed, thank you”. Congratulations to everyone involved so far it has been an absolute pleasure of a project to work on!

Young person from Dr Mz Youth Project “Intergen is awesome, I even got to perform in D11 twice! But I think Cerys & Laura should now teach us how to teach, so we can teach other kids about respect & Age!”
