Streetlife Summer Project August 2011

With a vast amount of Arts Care Gofal Celf’s work with children and young people programmed within term times, parents and young people began requesting additional classes during school holidays.

Arts Care Gofal Celf discussed this at Dance Team meetings and decided to deliver a summer intensive in the summer of 2011. With new Artist Zoe Murphy (Swansea based creative writer & Hip Hop accredited Dance Practitioner) joining the register, ACGC agreed to coordinate a summer project for children, young people and adults to enrol in a week long summer intensive.

Offering discounts for families and set fee for the week, ACGC were thrilled at the take up of places on the project. With 36 people of varied ages enrolled and a team of 4 Professional Dance Artists and three Assistants the week was a fantastic success. Participants worked intensively from 10am – 4pm Monday – Thursday with a final production of three scenes from the script performed at The Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen on Friday 5th August.

The Streetlife participants were an absolute pleasure to work with all week. Considering the majority of children and young people came from all over Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire the fun, noise and friendships that were made in one week was fantastic.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Streetlife Project.
