We are delighted to inform you of our intention to re-open, following the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions. As you will know, the guidelines in Wales are different from those in England and all non-essential retailers have been allowed to open since Monday, June 22nd.
For safety reasons, we have decided to delay re-opening until Thursday, July 16th 2020. Initially, we will only be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, between 10am and 5pm.
We are introducing the following measures:
* We will only allow a maximum of 4 customers in the gallery at any time (we may ask you to wait outside);
* We will ask you to maintain a two metre distance at all times;
* We will provide a hand sanitiser inside the front door and expect you to use it;
* We will ask you to follow our new one-way system;
* We will ask you not to touch or handle any items in the gallery with your bare hands. Upon request, we can provide latex gloves;
* If you have a face mask, we will ask you wear them whilst in the gallery;
* All payments will now be accepted by card payment only.
We your appreciate all your recent support and thank you all for patience and understanding as we move into this new normal. We are very much looking forward to seeing you again.
In the meantime, thank you for your continued support and please look after yourselves and your loved ones.
Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery is named after one of our founders, the late Dr Huw Bevan Jones, and exclusively features work by our professional registered artists. The gallery is an important developmental addition to Arts Care Gofal Celf, finally giving us the opportunity to show off what we do best whilst also ensuring that our invaluable charity work is further funded.
Showcasing the work of the professional artists on the Arts Care Gofal Celf register, we are stocked with high quality art, spanning a range of art forms – from sculpture to textiles, jewellery to printwork, leather goods to portraiture. All sales take a 30% commission which goes directly back into the charity to fund and create more workshops.
We have a full and rolling programme of exhibitions in both our gallery spaces, as well as mini-solo exhibitions in our display window area, fronting King Street. We support and encourage local new talent as well as having a representation of our “core artists” work which is available year-round. Please ask for details of our Gift Tokens.
We are a proud member of the Arts Council Collectorplan scheme.
Collectorplan is an interest-free credit service to help you buy contemporary art and craft in Wales. Under the plan, you only need to pay a 10% deposit upfront and the Collectorplan loan is repaid in monthly instalments by direct debit. The maximum period for repaying a Collectorplan loan is 12 months. The minimum monthly repayment is £10. You can buy multiple works of art from multiple galleries up to the maximum £5,000 credit facility threshold. Loans are available to UK residents aged 18 or over with a bank or building society account capable of operating direct debits. A Collectorplan loan is normally approved in 7-10 days.
Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery Angels
As well as work from our professional artists, we also have a range of items for sale, made specifically for Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery by our committed team of ‘Gallery Angels’. The items for sale, which include cards & jewellery, are generously made, by hand, in order to raise funds for the gallery. These funds help keep us pay for bags, marketing & sundries which, as a registered charity, can sometimes be difficult to fund.
We thank our very special Gallery Angels for their support. If you would like to become a Gallery Angel, please contact Gallery & Exhibitions Manager, Eiryl George, who will be very happy to discuss options with you.
Call for Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery Volunteers
Do you have a passion for the arts and a few hours spare every week?
Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery is looking for additional volunteers to join the team. If you have retail experience and would like to be part of a busy, vibrant and dynamic gallery, we would like to hear from you.
As a volunteer at Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery, you will spend 4 hours a week (or fortnight) alongside the Gallery Manager, actively participating in the day to day running of the gallery with other volunteers.
Your expenses will be reimbursed, you’ll be eligible to join the national Time Credits scheme, be part of an exciting timetable of exhibitions from some incredibly talented artists – and as much tea, coffee and biscuits as you can deal with!
If you’d like more information, please call in for an informal chat with Eiryl George or get in touch to request an application pack.
We very much look forward to hearing from you.
