The Dr Huw Bevan Jones Award – ART COMPETITION
Call for entries: Submission for the 2017 Dr Huw Bevan Jones Award is open now.
The Dr Huw Bevan Jones award is a brand new, national art competition for all professional artists (or artists in training) based in Wales. We aim to provide a platform for all professional artists to meet and foster creativity and inspiration.
The winner will be awarded the prestigious Huw Bevan Jones plaque, an impressive £1,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition in Gallery 2 at the new development of Arts Care Gofal Celf, the Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery between February and April 2018.
This is the inaugural competition for the Dr Huw Bevan Jones Award, which will go on to become a biannual event. The theme for 2017 submission is: Mental Health. Every submission will need a short written explanation of your thought process.
What kind of work are we looking for?
1. Work that meets the theme of the competition with short written explanation.
2. 2D work needs mirror plates attached and must be no larger than A1, 594 x 841mm, 23.4”x 33.1”.
3. 3D work needs to be no larger than 458mm x 305mm x 305mm, 17.5” x 12”x 12”
Deadline: All entries must be received in the gallery by Friday 10th February 2017.
Selection: Week of Monday 13th February 2017
Hanging: Week of Monday 20th February 2017
Exhibition: Monday 27th Feb – Saturday 1st Apr 2017 (Winner announced 27.02.2017)
Entry: Up to 3 entries per artist are permitted
Entry Fee: £5 for one entry; £10 for up to 3 entries.
(Fees will only apply to artwork which is selected by judges for hanging. ACGC Registered artists can enter one artwork and be selected without the hanging charge.)
