Andy Wardrop – Portraits in Gallery 2
Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery is delighted to welcome painter Andy Wardrop as the next visiting artist to have a solo show in Oriel/Gallery 2.
Andy Wardrop is from Llandybie, Carmarthenshire. He has recently graduated from Carmarthen School of Art, with a B. A. (Hons) in Fine Art and will be exhibiting his work at the gallery from Tuesday 11th September until Saturday 6th October.
Andy has two very specific styles of painting, united by a signature pallet of muted and expressive colours. His abstract work appears to be a kaleidoscope of shapes, patterns and places inspired by his local, rural surroundings. The subjects for Andy`s gentle, mature and sensitive portraits in this exhibition are his close friends, whom he renders with great affection in subtle pastel tones. His unique style is obtained by using acrylic paint on canvas with a `dry brush` technique.
Painting from a private studio at his home, Andy is an active member of his local creative community and an experienced portrait painter. He has regularly taken part in the annual Tywi Valley Open Studios.
The Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery is open Tuesday- Saturday, 10.00 until 5.00, and will also open on a Monday during the exhibition. Free entry, visitors welcome.
