Arts Care Gofal Celf Day Trip to MOVE IT 2012- Saturday 10th March

With over 20, 000 dancers attending MOVE IT 2012, Arts Care Gofal Celf were pleased to be part of the UK’s biggest dance event. The trip offered friends, Artists, Families and members of the Arts Care Gofal Celf “Community Dance Project” the opportunity to join to head to London for a jam packed day of dance!

ACGC Dance Development manager would like to offer her thanks to everyone who attended the trip “Many of us as Artists have attended the event in previous years but never as Trip – until now. The trip was a way of Artists, family members and dancers who regularly attend Arts Care workshops the opportunity to step out of our own county’s delivery to see live performances of all styles. Regardless of level of training, experience or style every person who attended the trip and attended the event shared a common interest & experience – “Engaging in the Arts”.

We are so pleased at the number of people who attended the trip which really ended up having a Family feel about it - although the day was long it was a real success in terms of participation in dance. I would like to offer thanks to all parents who attended with children and young people and a personal thank you to Artists - Angharad James, Tara O Reilly & Trystan Cook who volunteered on the trip to act as guardians for children and young people. We would like to see this become an annual Arts Care Trip – Roll on MOVE IT 2013!”

Angharad James
After two years of developing the new Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire Dance Development Programme, Arts Care Gofal Celf are thrilled to welcome Angharad James to the core staff team. Angharad has worked with Arts Care Gofal Celf as a freelance Dance Artist for the past year. Angharad is now developing the Community & Education outreach programme within Arts Care Gofal Celf’s Dance Development Programme.

A little about Angharad:
“Carmarthenshire born, my past dance training includes Modern Jazz & Creative Movement. Whilst on my travels I experienced a season at Sydney Dance Company Australia understanding the non-discriminating, versatile, holistic approach to Dance delivery, something that I feel needs to be influenced in many parts of the world. To be able to transport this vision and put it into action as a Dance Developer Worker for Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire is extremely positive. I am also a Freelance Dance Artist working across Pembrokeshire & Carmarthenshire within the community and Education sector. I cover various styles of dance such as Street jazz, Commercial Jazz, Hip Hop& Latin.

  • Congratulations to New ACGC Dance Artist Finola Findlay, who has been nominated for a Pembrokeshire Sport Award -‘Contribution to School Sports’ through her 5x60 dance delivery. Congratulations Finola!!!

A Day in the Life of Arts Care Gofal Celf
by Rachel Murphy

Arts Care Gofal Celf is a professional arts organisation based in West Wales with 25 years’ experience delivering high quality projects with people of all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles. Due to the diverse range of people we work with and the vast number of art forms that our projects encompass a typical day is difficult to capture however it is certain that a typical day will involve people having fun, learning new skills and developing in both confidence and self-esteem through working with our professional artists.

A recent typical day involved two of our artists working with young people from Llandeilo & Llandovery through Carmarthenshire youth service to transform their local railway stations improving the areas for all in the community. Such work did not go unnoticed when the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the station and spoke to the young people involved about their achievements.
